Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for working as part of the maintenance team to perform all maintenance tasks (installation, repair, and upkeep) for the operations of our facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Carry out inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform preventative, routine, and reactive maintenance.
  • Work closely with Plant/Operations Manager to ensure all preventative maintenance is scheduled to minimize impact to production and prevent equipment failure
  • Take corrective actions for production to continue without product contamination
  • Set and adjust programs for machines, label machines, and packaging machines
  • Work with contractors for new and adjustments to equipment
  • Review, interpret, and understand mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Perform work with a personal commitment to quality and responsibility
  • Use Lockout/Tagout and hot work permits to comply with regulations
  • Follow all policies and procedures the company has in place for quality, security, and reliability
  • Collaborate with suppliers and/or equipment providers as needed to address any equipment issues and resolve in a timely manner
  • Ensure the care and maintenance of all equipment and systems in safe operating condition
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Follow all required work safe practices.  This would include lockout-tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Responsible for following all food safety rules, and food quality rules related to designated area.
  • Report any food safety, personnel safety and/or food quality related issues to Maintenance Management immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, within scope and abilities.

Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED; technical school a plus
  • Two years of facilities maintenance experience
  • Ability to perform semi –skilled and skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work in the area of work assigned
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to diagnose problems and find solutions
  • Mechanical mindset with ability to think outside the box
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other departments
  • Ability to work effectively in the absence of close supervision
  • Ability to operate a variety of vehicles and equipment in a safe and effective manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, cold temperature environment
  • Experience working on processing machinery in the foodservice industry a plus
  • Understand and abide by all safety regulations as well as policies and procedure set forth by Verde Farms
  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work overtime, as warranted by business needs
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
